How to Add More Colour at Home

Home August 2

Colour can change the way you feel about the world, and the best place to start with adding some colour to your world is at home. It doesn’t need to cost the earth, and adding colour does not need a lot of space or your own home. I am a renter and all of these photos show some of the simple ways that I have added colour to our little apartment.

How To Add More Colour at Home:

♡ Party decorations are an affordable way to add colour! I found the Mexican paper cut out banner at Kmart recently, and the paper poms are also leftover from a party.

♡ Look for your grown up bed linen in unexpected places such as Cotton On Kids, they often have much more colour and come in grown up sizes too. I have added the bright pillow cases from Cotton On Kids to my own bed and the yellow spotty doona cover I found unexpectedly in Typo recently reduced from $190 to $30!

♡ Postcards and greeting cards are affordable ways to add colour and personality. The pink anchor from Los Luna Home sits nicely with a postcard and a greeting card from Typo in an Ikea frame.

♡ Display your favourite books and use plants to add colour.

♡ Look out for bright homewares on your travels, I always come back from Bali with a few new pieces to add colour such as the skeleton hanging on our balcony door and the pineapple from Los Luna Home.

♡ Find a few pieces that you adore and use them to add vibrancy in unexpected places. The bright pink cross is from Ahoy Trader and I chose this on my last trip to Byron Bay.

♡ Display some of your favourite jewellery to add some colour. I have mine hanging on a large white framed mirror.

♡ Use a few of your favourite toys in unexpected places to add colour and fun! Colour can also be found in packaging, make choices based on personality.

♡ Colour is also perfect to brighten your outdoor spaces, I have a cloth peace flag on our balcony above the beautiful shell chandelier from Bali.

Have fun with colour, don’t be afraid to do what you love, leave convention and the conservative behind. It is all about what makes you feel at home, what lights you up and what creates more joy in your world.

Thank you so much Karin for the kind thoughts xx
Yes I am really enjoying Gala’s book, it is very much in her down to earth style, and I have about 5 books on the go so I’m getting through it quite slowly!
