Insider Guide: The Joys of the Central Coast: Part One

It’s been 4 months since we said farewell to the Sydney Suburbs and made Ettalong Beach on the Central Coast of New South Wales home. Growing up in Terrigal looked a lot different to the Central Coast of 2017! I must confess that I did a weekend ‘review’ of the foodie scene before making the final decision to return to the Coast! It was such a relief to find so many new cafes and restaurants and lots of decent coffee. The Central Coast is finally a bit of a foodie playground with lots of joy to be found!

It’s not only the food scene that has improved, there are some lovely little spots to shop local and discover the Coasties who are doing good boutique! Immersing myself in Instagram since returning has given me such an insight into the amazing creativity happening here, there is so much to explore. Finding joy in life and your own area of the world is even more wonderful when shared.

So this will be the first in a series of posts filled with my photos and experiences of life and exploring the abundant joys to be found on the Central Coast of New South Wales.

In the Photos from Top:

The Box on the Water is our favourite local cafe, restaurant and kiosk right on the Ettalong waterfront. It is only a short walk from home and great for breakfast, lunch and dinner! It has lovely cocktails, modern Aus dishes and is super child friendly for all meals! I love that my little man can easily head off to the playground next door or down to paddle in the shallow water right out front.

The Petal Sisters do florals and candles and all things pretty OH SO WELL! Their lovely little boutique is one of my fave places to wander on a weekend morning to grab their lovely (well priced) posies and locally made soy candles. If you’re visiting you will find lots of locally made lovelies to take back home for yourself and as beautiful gifts.

Bella Natural Food Co. is in the heart of my hometown Terrigal, and it turns out that an old friend who I was surprised to run into there owns this little gem! Bella is a big buzzy spot with loads of healthy, raw and vibrant food plus great coffee! I love their bowls and raw sweet options and they have COCOWhip!!

Bombini has very quickly become my favourite for fine dining! The food is consistently above and beyond, the Central Coast was so in need of this beautiful place. It is set in a luscious little jungle on the outskirts of Avoca Beach and as well as the fine dining restaurant which is inside the most divine old home, there is a more casual wood fired pizza bar set amongst the jungle with the most amazing landscaping! Bombini is perfect for celebrations, quiet dinners in the corners of the restaurant, family gatherings in the pizza bar and girly groups! Can you tell how much I love this one?

Coast 175 is also near home in Ettalong. The Coast building is coastal perfection, lots of white with yellow striped awnings. The Campos coffee is good and they are open super early each morning. The menu has recently been updated and I am loving the all day dining style.

Margarita Daze is aptly named. This space is amazing, just open their website and you will see what I mean! It does get very busy and noisy so is not overly family friendly beyond sunset. Its the perfect spot to sit right on the ocean and grab some share plates and delicious cocktails or wine.

Let me know if you are planning a trip to the Central Coast or if any of these are also some of your faves!
